This past weekend, I went on a roadtrip to Barboursville Vineyards and Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello. The interstate was so jammed that I ended up venturing onto back roads. I had no idea where I was, but in the middle of farm country I stumbled across a VW show, of all things. Turns out it was the VW Cruisers annual meet in Bealeton, VA. Pictures from the event below.

So what does the hardcore VW fan think of your Phaeton? Is it just as anonymous here as on the road?

Yeah, people walked right past it. The Beetles, Type 2's, and Golfs got a lot of love, but the Phaeton didn’t get so much as a second glance.

That’s too bad. These are the people that should appreciate it most.

Some of the VW owners I talked to had never even heard of it!

Nope, didn’t see him at this. Though I did run into him at Cars & Coffee a couple weeks back.

Got really excited seeing Monticello and VW stuff in the post. Charlottesville local vw enthusiast here. Then i realized Bealeton is not quite Cville local and had a laugh. Sweet pictures.

I had a great time at Monticello too! I’d been there before, but it had been a few years.
